Community Involvement

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world.

Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” – Margaret Mead

END HUNGER GAMES

No Kid Hungry is a national non-profit organization with a mission that states,

“NO CHILD SHOULD GROW UP HUNGRY IN AMERICA”.

Because 1 in 5 children struggles with hunger, this organization utilizes the campaign Share our Strength to connect kids in need with nutritious food and also teaches families how to cook affordable and healthy meals.  Pondera County Insurance organizes and hosts a Kids’ Triathlon each summer with all proceeds going to No Kid Hungry.  This triathlon not only promotes active kids, but also brings awareness to the organization helping stop childhood hunger.  We are very proud of our Triathlon and have successfully hosted kid athletes participating in a swim, bike, run.

Community foodraiser

"Maybe Christmas,"

he thought

"doesn't come from a store.  Maybe Christmas,

...perhaps...

means a little bit more!"

PCI held a "foodraiser" at the Orpheum Theater to help restock the Pondera Food Pantry.  Admission was just two cans of food - that's it!

Together, we can all make a difference this holiday season!

giving tree

Giving Tree is a local effort to provide Christmas gifts to kids and families who are less fortunate during the holidays.  The effort is initiated by local churches and various businesses to host a Giving Tree in their office.  The tree (or wreath) has several ornament gift tags with requests for items with information on gender, size, and preference.  PCI hosts a giving tree and loves the ability to help make someone’s Christmas a little brighter!

random acts
of kindness

In lieu of a Christmas gift, Pondera County Insurance gives each of our employees $100 to give back to someone by providing a Random Act of Kindness during the holiday season.  The money can all go to one person or it can be broken up to several small acts.  Since we initiated the program in 2014, we have had countless, tearful stories of love and kindness.  This is one of our most favorite events and we hope that it encourages people to pay it forward.

philotimo

Philotimo is a magic Greek word without definition and cannot be translated in any other language.  The word is made up of filo = friend and timi = honor or the love of honor.  The word Philotimo gives meaning to life that stretches well beyond ourselves.  Philotimo is personal sacrifice and doing something for others without expecting something in return.  It is having the ability to separate right from wrong and giving others a second chance.  It is respect, honestly, integrity, and pride.  Philotimo is never giving up.

When we display these virtues and live these values we give meaning to our lives

and so many others.
